India's second President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birthday is celebrated every year as Teachers' Day across the country. The bright mind born in Tiruttani on September 5, 1888 in the erstwhile Madras Presidency went through financial hardships to complete his studies. He didn't want to study philosophy but lack of money to buy books compelled him to opt the subject. His cousin who graduated in philosophy gave his books to him thus paving the way for him.
