5 inspiring quotes of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan for new learnings in your life

05 Sep. 13:51

He was students' teacher. He found his joy in making them a learned person. India's second President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birthday is celebrated every year as Teachers' Day across the country. The bright mind born in Tiruttani on September 5, 1888 in the erstwhile Madras Presidency went through financial hardships to complete his studies. He didn't want to study philosophy but lack of money to buy books compelled him to opt the subject. His cousin who graduated in philosophy gave his books to him thus paving the way for him. He got scholarships throughout his academic life.

You can imagine his popularity among students by one of the incidents where his students gave him a teary farewell. It is said that his students took him from Mysore University to Railway station in a flower-decked carriage pulling it all way long. When he was appointed as President, elated Nobel laureate Bertrand Russel said: "It is an honour to philosophy that Dr Radhakrishnan should be President of India and I, as a philosopher, take special pleasure in this. Plato aspired for philosophers to become kings and it is a tribute to India that she should make a philosopher her President." His charm knew no bounds, from students to Prime Minister and great philosophers, everybody knew that he is one of the true gems of India. Dr. Radhakrishnan who was a follower of Rabindranath Tagore's philosophy also wrote a book on it. He always stressed upon the importance of education and knowledge.

Let's commemorate Dr. Radhakrishnan's birthday with his five inspiring quotes

No matter, how much we grow in life, a teacher's contribution never diminishes. We tend to admire and respect them more when we begin struggling in life.

Do you that former Indian batsman VVS Laxman is great grandnephew of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan? Now we know from where he got that calm demeanour.

Teachers doesn't mean those who teach at school or colleges. Anyone who has played a vital role in your life contributing to your growth as a person is your teacher. They can be your friends, colleagues, neighbours, etc.

After parents, our teachers are the only one who put in so much effort in making us a civilised and disciplined person. They dedicate a major part of their life in cultivating and nurturing young minds.

Today, everyone is busy wishing their teachers and expressing their gratitude. Social media is flooded with quotes and posts honouring gurus. If you are too engrossed in office files and haven't wished your teacher yet, have a look at quotes and messages which you can send them.

Android Authority Check out the Nokia 2, a budget phone with a monster battery 19 hours ago HMD Global  is slowly building up its portfolio of stock-Android-running smartphones. In addition to the trio of mid-rangers (Nokia 3, 5, and 6)  it launched at MWC , the company bolstered its high-end with the  Nokia 8 , and now the other side of spectrum is getting some attention. Just  leaked by Evan Blass , the Nokia 2 looks… well, like a generic cheap phone. If you have a visceral hate of bezels, you’ll probably want to close this post and move on, but design is hardly the point here. Blass didn’t share any details about the Nokia 2, but we can make some educated guesses based on some other clues we’ve got about the phone. First, you might have noticed that the phones in the leaked renders show October 5 as the date. Dates in renders are often set to match the launch time, but this could be an old render and there’s still time for things to change. Read more Han...

TOI How safe are our kids in schools? 7 hours ago by Praveen Lenka   Whatsapp Facebook Google Plus Twitter Email Linkedin SMS SHARE HIGHLIGHTS Parents’ Suggestions Feedback from parents should be taken in the right stride by school authorities. PTA should have more authority and a right to put their points across in all school matters, especially when it comes to the safety of their children. No child, especially small kids, should be allowed to go alone to the washroom. There should be zero tolerance for non-compliance with child safety guidelines. Official authorities should conduct regular checks in schools to ensure that they have implemented safety measures. Schools should take the help of professional counsellors/psychologists to interview potential recruits. Over the past two days, twin incidents of students getting assaulted in their school premises have been reported from the National Capital. Close on...
