From Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to Xiaomi Redmi Note 4; here's a list of phones getting Android Oreo

Updated:Sat, September 23, 2017 2:22pm

This is just a list of devices that have been promised the update, with no specific timeline for the rollout.

Lately, there has been a lot of confusion on which devices will get the Android 8.0 Oreo update and which devices won't make the cut. Having launched the latest 8.0 version of Android OS earlier this year, Google recently confirmed that it has started rolling out the final update for its Pixel and Nexus devices. While the Pixel and certain Nexus smartphones are sure to get the update, Google is also working with other smartphone manufacturers such as HTC, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Sony to upgrade its new and existing devices to Android 8.0 Oreo sooner or later.

Android 8.0 Oreo comes with a host of new features. The most obvious visual change is a revamped Settings menu, which features subtle dark grey text on an all-white background. Android Oreo may finally fix issues with standby battery drain. Background Execution Limits being imposed in Android Oreo will ensure that apps won't run with background services open at all times. One of the best new features of Android Oreo is the ability to snooze individual notifications. Android Oreo also comes with the autofill feature. This means the new Android iteration will remember your logins so that you can get into your favorite apps with your permission. This is possibly the most awaited feature of Android O. The feature allows its users to perform two tasks simultaneously. Lastly, Connectivity will also be better with the new OS.

Below is a list of smartphones slated to get updated to Android Oreo, as compiled by FonearenaAccording to the report, a variety of brands have confirmed that certain devices will get Android 8.0 Oreo update. However, some companies are yet to officially confirm the same.
