Home-made anti-tank guided missile Nag flight tests a hit

India on Saturday announced it successfully flight tested indigenously-made Nag anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) against two different targets at firing ranges in Rajasthan.

A defence ministry spokesperson said the third-generation ATGM was successfully flight tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation on Friday.

“The ATGM Nag has successfully hit both the targets under different ranges and conditions with very high accuracy as desired by the armed forces,” the spokesperson said.

The latest flight tests have completed the development trials of the Nag missile, which was successfully tested in June too. The fire-and-forget missile has a range of around 4 km.

India is also looking at buying Israeli Spike ATGM to equip its infantry and mechanised infantry units the capability to destroy armoured vehicles and bunkers from a distance of 2.5 km. The deal is worth Rs 3,200 crore.
